About The Mine Shack
We Have been collecting minerals from around the USA and Canada since 1988. In 1996 my wife and I began The Mine Shack in order to relieve the structure of our home from the weight of our collection. We believe that education about rocks breeds interest in geology, we have given many demonstrations and field trips for grade schools. Hopefully we have inspired a new generation of collectors. In 2004 the business turned a new corner . Matt began a career in professional specimen mining at the William Wise mine in Westmoreland New Hampshire. Matt has also been contracted for overburden removal and restructuring of the Palermo Mines in North Groton New Hampshire in 2005 and Ruggles mine in 2007.
Now the business continues to grow and the list of mineral shows we attend as dealers grows as well. we can be found in Canton N.Y. , North Adams Ma. , Springfield, Ma., and Burlington Vt. .
The Mine Shack is also a fully trained independent mining contractor for hire. We specialize in specimen removal for mines and quarries that encounter mineralized areas but are too busy to spare the extra time for recovery themselves.
